2010 COGIC AIM Creative Arts Scholarship

  1. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled college student majoring in or having strong emphasis on the “Arts”(ie., Drama, Production, Creative Writing, Dance, Voice, Photography, TV and Radio Announcers, etc.); who is a member in good standing of a local Church Of God In Christ.
  2. Applicant must submit a letter of reference from his/her Pastor.
  3. Applicant must meet the criteria for admission to the college/university of his/her choice, and provide proof of enrollment or a Letter of Acceptance.
  4. Applicant must be a full time student at the college/university of their choosing, preferably a “School of the Arts”. (A full time student is defined as a student carrying a minimum of 12 semester credit hours)
  5. Applicant must have a 3.0 grade point average or better (Official Transcript required).
  6. Applicant must submit an essay of not less than 200 words, typed and double spaced on the topic, “Why I Should be the recipient of the COGIC AIM CREATIVE ARTS Scholarship.”  Be sure to include how you are using your gifts in your local ministries, and what are my future career goals.
  7. Applicant shall be subjected to an Oral Interview by the Scholarship Evaluation Board as well as an on-site audition/presentation of his/her Creative Art skills on or before Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at a designated time during the 2010 AIM Convention. Applicants will be notified during the AIM Convention, so please provide a cell phone contact that will be available during AIM.
  8. All letters of application must be submitted on-site by close of business Monday, July 5, 2010.

Mission Statement

The COGIC AIM Creative Arts Scholarship was designed to support, promote, celebrate and uplift the creative gifts operating in the body of Christ. We are committed to the necessity of training, preparing and defining the gifts of our young people. We are firm believers that as we sow into the lives of those who are young, gifted and anointed, we are building up the next generation of this great church, and in turn, celebrating our legacy.

Award Summary Statement

Decisions of the COGIC AIM Creative Arts Scholarship Evaluation Board and Judges shall be final. Scholarships tendered shall not be construed as the lone means of college tuition. Compensatory amount of scholarship and distribution of same shall be determined by the Scholarship Evaluation Board in concert with the Chairman of the AIM Convention. The COGIC AIM Creative Arts Scholarship Evaluation Board shall base the awards on academic achievement, Creative Arts talent, church and community service and recommendations for financial need.

Documentation (Required)

APPLICATION: All applications must be typed or printed in black ink. Applications shall include your full name, address and daytime/cell telephone number; as well as the name, address and telephone number of your parent or legal guardian. The application must be fully completed in order to be considered. The application may be computer generated and reproduced.

TRANSCRIPT: All applicants must submit an official copy of their high school or college transcript.

RECOMMENDATIONS: All applicants must submit one letters of reference from their Pastor. No letter may be written by a relative or a member of the COGIC AIM Creative Arts Scholarship Committee.
