“We are very excited and enthused that Charlotte has been selected to host the 2010 International AIM Convention,” Superintendent Tommie A. Murphy, co-chairman of the local steering committee and Pastor of New Bethel Church Of God In Christ in Charlotte said recently. “We have a great team of workers who have been actively working since our initial kickoff meeting with our International AIM Chairman, Superintendent J. Drew Sheard.”

Murphy said since the kickoff meeting on September 14th, a local committee was formed with more than over 30 supporters across the two host states and jurisdictions of North Carolina and South Carolina, and supporting states and jurisdictions of Virginia and Georgia.”

Four organizational meetings have been held and several rallies have been scheduled as pre-convention activities. The rally in Georgia will be held on March 27, 2010; the North and South Carolina Rally will take place on April 17th, and the Virginia Rally will be held on May 15th. A Super Rally, which will involve all host and supporting jurisdictions will take place on June 12, 2010. The local committee has also organized a community outreach for youth in the Charlotte area during AIM, along with a monthly e-newsletter to communicate the AIM local committee’s status and activities.

“We are anticipating a great move of God and look forward to the lives of all those who attend to be changed,” Murphy continued. “We are excited and actively planning for the greatest AIM Convention ever.”

Working alongside Murphy as Co-Chair is Superintendent Michael Stevens, Pastor of University City Church Of God In Christ in Charlotte. Elder Derrick Hutchins, II, Family Worship Center in Columbia, SC, is vice chair, and Pastor Wil Nichols of Victorious Praise Fellowship in Durham is the Executive Secretary.
