Learn About R.E.A.C.H @ Childress Memorial COGIC

God is moving in a mighty way at the Childress Memorial COGIC in San Antonio, TX through the profound leadership of our pastor, Bishop S.E. Iglehart. It is through his leadership that the women are in charge each fifth Sunday weekend, known as R.E.A.C.H. (Reaching Everyone And Creating Hope). We begin each Friday night with an opening address; workshops, luncheons and fellowship on Saturdays and the grand finale on Sunday/Sunday night. This August, our theme was “Powerful, Passionate and moving toward Perfection”. We were blessed to have with us, Missionary Pamela Hunt from God’s Grace COGIC in Sacramento California. She truly blessed our souls. We also had our first annual hat brunch for the women to fellowship and have a little “Girl Talk” applying Godly principles to everyday social, marital, and home issues faced by so many women of God everywhere.

We were also blessed to initiate our first REACH-out to the sisterhood of God’s Grace COGIC who came with our guest speaker. They will launch their first REACH in 2010. We are excited about this initiative and hope to help unite the sisterhood all over the nation. REACH out!!!

If you would like additional information regarding REACH, feel free to contact me through the church office: Childress Memorial COGIC, 901 N. Pine Street San Antonio, TX 78202.

My First Lady of Freewill COGIC in Brooklyn, NY sent in this prayer request for me Monday May 25th. I was in a car accident saturday evening may 23rd around 9:30pm. Someone ran a red light causing the vehicle i was in to swirve , lose control and run in to a street lamp. I lost consciousness and when I woke up it was 1:00am Sunday morning. Neurology ran some tests(because I had loss of consciouness for so long) and stated that my left eye was smaller than my right, the left side of my face was more rough than my right, and my left side of the body was responding slower than my right. The neurologists decided that I needed to be observed for 24 hours. An MRI was to be scheduled for sunday afternoon,(to check the brain and neck for arteries, to make sure everything was intact). After two attempts the MRI was not done because of me being claustrophobic. I needed to be completely sedated before having the MRI done, because of the holiday the MRI was not done until Tuesday May 26th. There was a mix up in the tests that needed to be done and an MRI was done of my entire spine. Results came back everything was normal (I was in a accident three years ago and was told I had two pinched nerves in the cervical area and one pinched nerve in the lumbar part of the spine, which are no longer there or never there to begin with). I still needed the MRI done of my brain and neck. Doctors were also in conflict about my memory, reflexes, my left eye and the left side of my face. An MRI was scheduled Wednesday May 27th. The MRI took about two hours bacause they ran three tests. The Neurology Doctor came down and asked if I felt ok and I said yes. He asked if I wanted to go home and I said yes, Then he said my result were normal and I could go home. It has been an emotional couple of days. i have always known God has a special hand on my life and this event proved it all the more. I still can’t recall the accident which is to my benifit. I walked away with one scar and a couple of bruises. I praise God with my whole heart and I thank everyone for their prayers.

This year was my first attending the Women’s International Convention/Crusade and I was truly blessed. I enjoyed every message, the songs, the prayer, everything. Denver is a beautiful city and the people were very hospitable. I met new sisters in Christ and is looking forward to attending the 60th Convention in Los Angeles if the Lord delays His coming.

Mother Rivers, I am praying for you and your staff. Every worker including transportation was wonderful. Continue to work for the Lord.

A few days ago, I asked my pastor if the women of our church could have the fifth Sunday to get in more training, fellowship and experience. I like what I read concerning your fifth Sunday. If I may, I would like to use REACH. I needed some ideas and I thank God that there are saints who don’t mind sharing what they are doing in their local church. Please pray for the women of Joyful Praise in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I am the pastor’s wife and I am endeavoring to help the women of our church bond together, love each other and as a result, help our communities and win souls for the kingdom. God Bless you richly and thanks for sharing!

  8. Last week (1-1-10) I read that the women of God was in charge on the fifth Sunday’s. I had been praying that God would give me something new for our women department in the year of 2010. I have asked our pastor if the women’s can be in charge on the next fifth sunday. Thanks for sharing your ideas with the other saints of God. Please pray for the women of Victory Temple in Hodge, Louisiana. I am the Pastor wife and I pray that God will use me to help the women department to be their Sister Keeper and Love like the Bible reads. Thanks for sharing and may God richly Bless you.
