Missionary Booker_1Beatrice Burns Booker was born and raised in Sylvania, Georgia, and attended her family’s church, Ogeechee Church of God.  After completing her education, she relocated to Illinois, where she accepted Christ as her personal savior at age 19, at Saint James Temple COGIC, Waukegan, Illinois, where the pastor was Bishop James Markham.  She attended the Waukegan Business College, while working at the VA hospital, and Great Lakes Naval Base.  Missionary Booker is a part of the central Georgia Church of God In Christ, where C. D. Owens is her jurisdictional Bishop, and mother Edith L. McGrew is her Jurisdictional supervisor. She is a member of Kelly Lake COGIC in Decatur, Georgia, where she has served under Superintendent Norman O. Harper for the last 20 years. In the local church she has served as president of the outreach ministry, working with the Atlanta Shelter, Atlanta Detention Center, Atlanta Federal Prison, Community Outreach Evangelism, and Bread ministry.  Sis Booker was also a member of the Word of Praise COGIC, pastured by, Bishop Benjamin P. Collins, of Savannah, GA where she served as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Usher Board President, Sunday school teacher, and part of the prison ministry.  After 22 years of dedicated employment with the federal government, the Lord opened the door for Missionary Booker to pursue her dream to serve as a missionary on the foreign field.  Her first  short term mission trip was in 1995, to a Native American Reservation in North Dakota.  The trip, coordinated by Charles and June Rivers, was made by Youth on a Mission (YOAM). Her love for the people and desires to share Jesus was stirred even more as doors opened for her to travel to the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Brazil, Chile, Kenya and Panama.  In 2002, she was appointed as “Resident Missionary” to Brazil, South America where she works with Supervisor Mother Lee Van Zandt, and Bishop Samuel Moore.  She faithfully works each year in Memphis with the International Missions Breakfast Committee.  She has two sons, Travis Booker Jr., stationed at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia, and Andre Booker of Atlanta. She also has seven grandchildren, all residing in Georgia.   beaburns1@yahoo.com
