Attention Songwriters: Holy Convocation ~ St. Louis

The move of the COGIC Holy Convocation to St. Louis, MO – after 102 years in Memphis, is a historical one; and the International Music Department has the opportunity to capture this event in musical form.

The IMD’s upcoming project, entitled: “The International Music Department Presents THE ST. LOUIS EXPERIENCE”, (CD & DVD Recording) is destined to be one of notable achievement; and this momentous occasion will afford to COGIC songwriters the prospect of their music being heard, and the opportunity to present to the world a historic offering.

COGIC songwriters, who are interested in this opportunity, may submit original music to be considered for inclusion. Submissions must be mailed to the Receiving Commissioner by the date indicated on the application. Entries which comply with the guidelines outlined in the Songwriter’s Submission Packet, will be forwarded to the IMD Listening Panel. Entries that fail to meet the submission criteria will not be considered further; and the songwriter will be notified via e-mail correspondence from the Reviewing Commissioner.

What a time we had in Tampa! I am so grateful to God for His visitation during the 2009
AIM Convention; and I want to thank all of you who contributed with your prayers
and/or your participation.

To each one of you, please know that I love and appreciate you. Your faithfulness

enabled us to lead the services with excellent music ministry; and I am grateful for your dedication to the International Music Department (IMD). We would not exist without you!

Welcome to the International Music Department for the Church of

God in Christ.We are so honored that you have taken pause within

your busy day, to pay us a visit. As a department we will centralize

our focus on JESUS and HIS kingdom; and this focus will be the goal

of all departmental activities. We will endeavor to remove attention

away fromman and/or tradition, realizing that the commandments

of God take precedence over the traditions of man.

The Nevels Sisters – Beautiful

The Nevels Sisters are an anointed group of young women who have committed their lives to spreading The Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. The group is made up of four biological sisters: Debra, Veneice, Gail, and April who started singing at their father’s church, Nevels Temple COGIC back in the early 70’s,where they are still very active in ministry. The Nevels Sisters accompanied their father, Elder Emmitt Nevels, on many of his revivals as he traveled the US preaching the gospel. They served in the COGIC all their lives and were taught and reared in their early years by the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark.

Having performed together since childhood, the Nevels Sisters are seasoned vocalists who have appeared at Megafest, Gospel Superfest, Kurt Carr’s Gold Celebration and several other notable venues. Additionally, the sisters have shared the stage with gospel superstars like The Clark Sisters, Vickie Winans, Mary Mary, Dorothy Norwood, The Williams Brothers, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson and others. Recently, the Nevels Sisters reached #29 on the R&R charts with their new single “Clap your Hands”. They were also featured in the New Artist Spotlight on the Bobby Jones Gospel Countdown and Radio Show which airs on Sheridan Gospel Network and American Urban Radio Networks covering over 70 radio markets across the United States.

The Nevels Sisters have become recording artists in their own right becoming the first official winners of the Gospel F.O.C.U.S. (Find Out Can U Sing) national talent search and have recently released their new project entitled “Beautiful” which is climbing the charts and taking the world by storm. They are more anointed, more powerful and more awesome than ever! Get ready to be renewed, refreshed, rejuvenated and RESTORED!

The CD was released digitally on November 25, 2009 on itunes, amazon.com, napster, rhapsody, and molifeent.com. The Brown Sisters CD release

The appointed time has come for The Brown Sisters, who refer to themselves as “undignified worshippers who worship God in spirit and in truth.” The Brown Sisters have been singing professionally for almost 20 years but they have never released a CD – that is until now. Kingdom Records – home to the gold-selling Shekinah Glory Ministry – will release their debut CD The Brown Sisters Live in Chicago on June 30, 2009.

The Chicago natives have enthralled audiences around the globe with their warm harmonies and spontaneous worship. They’ve shared the stage with Aretha Franklin, Bobby McFerrin, Marvin Sapp and Shirley Caesar among others. Now, they are taking center stage with their reverential radio single “Awesome God” that is getting played on gospel radio stations across the country.

The Brown Sisters’ debut CD (recorded live at Freedom Baptist Church in Hillside, IL) is a mixture of contemporary praise and worship songs. Tracks like “King of Glory” create a venerational atmosphere of worship. “Abide” is up-tempo and uplifting. The set also features lively contemporary numbers such as the soulful “Ain’t Nothin’ Like This But This” that features a smooth R&B style similar to another legendary Chicago sister act, the Emotions. “Hold On” cracks with an old school quartet vibe, while “Sing Unto the Lord” boasts a Latin flavor. Then, there are urgent ballads such as “You Reign Lord” and the majestic “Awesome God” which can easily stand alongside praise anthems such as Richard Smallwood’s “Center of My Joy” or Kirk Franklin’s “The Reason Why We Sing.”

The road to this momentous live recording began when the sisters were children. The Brown Sisters are with Southern Illinois Jurisdiction, Bishop Hugh E.
