Superintendent Sims serves as the Jurisdictional Sunday School Superintendent of the Southern California First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake Sr., where she provides leadership for the growth, development and training of the local Sunday School ministries within its 8 Regions and 42 Districts.
Nationally, Sims serves on the Executive Staff of the International Sunday School Department, most recently being appointed as Director of Leadership Ministry for the International Sunday School University,
Sims brings a wealth of experience to the area of Training and Development being employed as a Human Resources Manager specializing in Training and Development as well as a Corporate Trainer in the areas of Corporate Sales and Marketing.
Superintendent Sims’ wisdom and knowledge of the Sunday School Ministry is sought after throughout the country and abroad. In 2004 Sims was summonsed to Brazil to organize and develop the Jurisdictional Sunday School Department for the Brazil Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Moore. During her second trip to Brazil’s AIM Convention in 2006, she conducted Training Workshops focusing on Sunday School development at the Jurisdictional, District and Local levels.
Superintendent Althea Sims is a third generation member of the Church of God in Christ. She is the wife of Superintendent Emeritus Reginald D. Sims, pastor of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ. They are the proud parents of 5 and loving grandparents of 8.

THROUGH THE INTERNATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL UNIVERSITY!
Noted author and management expert, John Maxwell, defines Leadership as Influence. Each of us, from a toddler on the playground to the most senior adult, is influencing or “leading” at any given time of the day. For those of us who are assigned the great opportunity to “provide leadership or . . . influence”, we must be concerned about providing the proper “influence” to ensure maximum outcomes for our particular areas of responsibility.
It is within that scope that six dynamic “Leadership Powershops” have been developed, to launch, enhance and improve your Leadership skill set.
This year’s Facilitators represent some of our church’s finest leaders. They are well qualified, equipped and empowered to present from their various areas of expertise. I invite you to join us, as we learn and become Better, Together!
