Job Description and Responsibilities

A Sunday School Worker is one of the most responsible positions in the Church. It is a position that carries much more honor than is usually recognized. Pastors, superintendents, teachers, secretaries, and many others are within this term, all are involved in the business and art of Christian Education

The Sunday school worker is required to be genuine, one who has been born of the Spirit of God, and whose life is exemplary in every respect. The individual worker is a loyal committed church member.  Every superintendent, teacher, etc., should put forth every effort possible to be worthy of this great vocation and holy calling. The Sunday school staff is indispensable to the church’s teaching ministry.

The Local Sunday School Department is the starting level of the Sunday School Ministry; the General Superintendent is the administrative head of the Sunday School, even if a full time Director of Christian Education is available. In this level of Sunday School ministry there will be a Department Superintendent, an Extension Superintendent, teachers, secretary and other workers.

The District Sunday School Department is an administrative body which does not conduct Sunday rooming classes, but is responsible for the pulling together all of the schools in the district under the supervision  of the District Sunday School  Superintendent with the assistance of the Field Representative.

The Jurisdictional Sunday School Department is like the district administrative.  The Jurisdictional Sunday School Department is the highest tribunal of Sunday school activity in the Jurisdictional work. The Jurisdictional Sunday School Superintendent is the head administrator, with the Field Representative assisting in the Jurisdictional work.

The Regional Sunday School Department has the responsibility to develop and implement training model(s) to enhance and accelerate the development of skills in all areas of the ministry.  Provide consultant services to all Jurisdictional Sunday School Departments as required.  Plan regional functions and fellowship meetings to allow for informal interaction between all Sunday school leadership and the International Sunday School Department.

The International Sunday School Department will inform workers of their Sunday School duties and responsibilities that they may be thoroughly familiar with their duties and responsibilities, in order to promote, and motivate the growth of Sunday School.
