Presenter: Miss’y Charla V. Johnson
Introduction: This class is to help encourage young women to develop a kinsmanship among other Christians on campus. The instructor will be helping them to find resource to establish a Christian fellowship on campus. It will also discuss ways to search for a good church home while away at school.
I. Utilizing networking to establish a covering
a) It is important for young people coming into a new cityto use the internet, to find a new church home. Let your pastor and if you know him your Bishop know that you are going away to college. The COGIC is well connected and chances are they can help you contact other churches in the city that you are going to and recommend a church home for you.
b) Get involve with campus activities to see if there is a COGIC church that is affiliated with your school.
c) A positive outreach for any thriving church is its website. Our new President, Barrack Obama, became the leader of the country by reaching the young through Internet contacts. Attractive easily navigated sights can attract many young people to your church.
II. Exercise your faith
a) Do not be ashamed to let people know what you stand for. Chances are there are others that are just waiting for someone to take the lead.
b) Ask the Resident Assistant (RA), if you can have a room in the dorm or a place to have friends gather for prayer and bible study.
c) Realize that in the community there are COGIC churches that would be willing to support and stand with you in your efforts to exhort the kingdom on campus.
d) Seek out any of the local Sunday school superintendents, and ask them if they would come and help you with starting a bible study utilizing the lessons from the week.
e) Discuss this with the student campus ministry advisors. Devise an outline a set time and date and a place you would like to have the 1 hour lesson teaching.
f) The local superintendent would help you keep your lessons relevant to the issues that you and your friends are dealing with in everyday life and help you draw neigh unto God.
