2010 Young Women of Excellence

  1. The applicant must be single (never been married), with no children and between the ages of 13 – 21.
  2. Each applicant must file an application with the Youth Department signed by the Jurisdictional Bishop.
  3. The applicant must complete the personal data form and submit a short biographical sketch.
  4. Each applicant must sign the Young Women of Excellence  (YWE ) Agreement.
  5. Each applicant will write a brief essay. The topic is “If I were the International Chairlady I would…”
  6. Each applicant must complete 20 hours of Community Service at a venue of her choice. A letter from the organization/venue on official letterhead must be submitted in order to receive credit.
  7. Each applicant must submit a minimum of $500.00 entry fee. Your entry monies are due no later than June 1st .
  8. Each contestant is required to take an oral/written exam over the YPWW COGIC Book Club Book entitled Let’s Walk the Talk! by Danae Dobson ISBN# 978-1-4143-0810-4.

Guidelines & Requirements

Procedures for Pageant Applicants

  1. The applicant must be single (never been married), with no children and between the ages of 13 – 21.
  2. Each applicant must file an application with the Youth Department signed by the Pastor.
  3. The applicant must be in good standing with the Youth Department and any area of the local church in which she serves.
  4. The applicant must complete the personal data form and submit a short biographical sketch.
  5. Each applicant must attend instructional training classes.
  6. Each applicant must complete 20 hours of Community Service at a venue of her choice. A letter from the organization/venue on official letterhead must be submitted in order to receive credit.
  7. Each applicant must submit a minimum of $500.00 entry fee for the “Victory Trophy.” The applicant who submits the highest amount over $500.00 will receive the “Victory Trophy.”  Your entry monies are due no later than June 1st . Remaining monies are due July 7th. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS. DEADLINES ARE FINAL!! Once your monies have been submitted and counted, you will receive your “winning total.” Any monies submitted after you have received a “winning total” will count toward your “overall total.” Your “winning total” will be the amount you will be judged on for the Victory Trophy. Points will be given for your “winning total” and will go toward your total possible points earned for Miss YWEIn order to receive any points for your monies turned in, you must submit an amount more than the entry fee ($500.00).
  8. The YWE Crown will be granted to the young lady that accumulates the most points in a variety of categories during the workshops as well as the pageantry. Therefore, it is possible that a contestant can be the recipient of both the “Victory Trophy” and be crowned Miss YWE 2010. Points are awarded in the following categories:

  9. Each applicant must sign the Young Women of Excellence  (YWE ) Agreement.
  10. Each applicant will write a brief essay. The topic is “If I were the International Chairlady I would…”
  11. Please be aware that there is a talent exposition during the pageant. Each applicant is required to present her talent during the “Talent Exposition”. The talent presentation should range from 3-5 minutes in length.
  12. Each contestant is required to purchase a $12.00 t-shirt to be worn for their group community service project during AIM.
  13. The pageant attire will consist of: white formal dress, white gloves, white pearl earrings and white shoes. Specified attire is mandatory or participant will not be allowed to take part in the pageant final presentation.
  14. Each contestant is required to participate in the YWE sleep-over, “Up All Night”, during which the young ladies will participate and be evaluated in the areas of group interaction, congeniality and an oral/written exam over the YPWW COGIC Book Club Book entitled Let’s Walk the Talk! by Danae Dobson.

Post-Exit Requirement

It is strongly recommended that by the completion of this life-changing experience, each young woman will have read Let’s Walk the Talk! by Danae Dobson ISBN# 978-1-4143-0810-4. There will be an examination given on the book.
