Church Of God In Christ members under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake Meet In Memphis November 2 -10, 2009
Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake and members of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. (COGIC) are arriving in
Memphis to worship and celebrate the 102nd Annual Holy Convocation, November 2 through November 10. More than 70,000 members are expected to convene in the city from around the world for the annual convention of the denomination.
Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. is the presiding bishop of the Church Of God In Christ. “Our Holy Convocation is a time for members of our denomination to reflect on the past year and become energized about the future,” said Blake. “We look forward to this year’s Convocation as we prepare to continue to extend our mission of bringing new believers into God’s kingdom. The theme for the convention is “All Things, All People, All Godly Strategies!”
The 102nd Church Of God In Christ Annual Holy Convocation will open with a time of fasting and prayer on Monday, November 2 beginning at 9 a.m. at Mason Temple. Major highlights of the Convocation include: the G.E. Patterson Morning Manna, the World Missions Emphasis, Women’s Observance Day, Men’s Conference, the Presiding Bishop’s Forum, Christmas in November, the COGIC Charities Banquet and the Official Convocation Day Service. A complete schedule of the Holy Convocation is attached.
The Church Of God In Christ is the fourth-largest Protestant religious denomination in the United States with an estimated membership above 6.5 million members. COGIC headquarters are located at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee.

Shereel there were needs met, each year during the convocation the C.O.G.I.C. has what they call Christmas in November. During this time praise & worship goes forth, the word of God is preached, salvation is offered, people are fed and given clothing and food. This is just one event that I know of, but I am sure there are others during the convocation.
Deacon Williams, I enjoyed the Music Dept. most of the week, but I do agree with you that we should not forget those who blessed us in the music area through the years. Elder Samuel Jackson, I totally agree that we get Catholic during the Sunday Morning and Communion Service.
I am truly sorry that I wasn’t present at the national convocation this year since it be in some other place next year. Hopefully I will get to attend the meeting in St. Louis Missour. It is always a joy to fellowship with other saints of our denomination in other places. It was my desire to be there. I did view the services on the internet and I enjoyed seeing the people of God having a blessed time in the Lord. God Bless You.
Bishop G.E. Patterson is greatly, greatly, missed…….
I attended the Convocation this year and was truly blessed. Even though Bishop’s message on Sunday was awesome, the music had much to be desired. After services I over heard many comments on “what was with that music” it was as far from COGIC as it could get. There is nothing wrong with something new, but let’s keep the spririt of what is COGIC. We are known for “foot tapping, tamborine slapping, horn blowing, organ playing shouting music”, instead we got…. DUH!

Somebody please answer these questions that I am going to ask because I am having hard time understanding the reasoning for this. 1). Has there ever been a late fee for registering for the Holy Convocation? and then why? 2). Why is everything nonrefundable? 3). Why are there three different price levels? 4). Why should a certain group be told which level they have to pick? 5). Wasn’t the reason for the move was to give the Saints some finanical relief?. Now as you can see I am totally not understanding what’s going on. Now this is only my second time registering for the Holy Convocation and I was not able to attend due to a few miscommuincations, misunderstandings so that’s one reason I didn’t request housing cause no one knows what will happens between now and now I know we used to say now and then but I am saying now and now. Also I would hate pay the money for a hotel and then something comes up and I can’t make nor will I be able to get a refund. See if people could get a refund if they couldn’t make it they could give part or all of it to the Church. On last year I can’t remember anything about a late fee after a certain time nor do I remember anything about the difference in the price of seating. To me this sounds more like a wordly buisness concert oppurtnity where this is highly expected and accepted, than an event Blessed by God, and since it was said that the move from Memphis to St. Louis was due Memphis not meeting the needs of the Saints and trying to get over on the Saints, I am sincerely seeking answers to why these difference in prices, why the late fees, why should it be deteremined what price someone has to pay, why are most things (if not all) nonrefundable? I am not really seeing relief here at all I am seeing more ways for the Saints pay just in another form, we could have stayed in Memphis at this rate. For the upcoming years set a set price for everbody to pay across the board and let the Lord do in the increase not man. God will Bless you where you are at not because of what you paid to sit HIS BLESSINGS don’t flow by how much it flows from how you give it which should be from the heart. Let’s keep God’s Holy Spirit flowing in the Holy Convocation.
Hello Bishop Blake
Let me say that I really enjoyed the convocation in Memphis i am so glad that I attended.I was so excited to see Bishop Blake in person. When he walked in with that staf I was all most in tears it was so nice he was walking as if Gog himself was walking right beside him as a matter of fact he was. I was glad to see when Mother Rivers came down and put her hands on the new mothers it wa blessing to witness that and then to look out and see all the women in white it was like looking out a over a snow covered feild in Arkansas. I will never forget the experience of going to the prayer room at Mason temple you could feel the presence of the Lord before you entered the room. I asked the Lord if I could go to Memphis and he made a way now you tell me who would not serve a God.I am so happy with my walk with Lord and I would not change a thing. my only sadness is that I lived in Arkansas most of my life and I never attended the Memphis meeting i did not realized what I was missing, but if the lord keep me in right mind I will try to make the next meeting in Carolina. I also want to say that I saw and talked with Mother Holmes and she was a blessing to me,I like her and I know I will gain a wealth of knowledge from working with her.I am the President of the Nevada State Usher board and I will be encouraging all the ushers to get ready to work with Mother Holmes. I know it is a lot to read but I am yet feasting on the meeting.I just might send another message if that is all right. My prayer is that the COGIC will keep moving forward.one more thing you have to have lots and lots of $1(ONE) bills when you go. smile
be blessed
TO THE LEADERS OF THE COGIC, INTERNATIONAL. MAY YOU ALWAYS BE LED BY GOD AND NOT MAN. PRAYERFULLY THE MOVE TO ST. LOUIS, MO WILL BE BENEIFICAL TO THE ENTIRE KINGDOM BUILDING OF GOD. PLEASE, LET GOD ORDER YOUR STEPS AS YOU MOVE THE HISTORICAL COGIC MEETING PLACE FROM THE FOUNDING FATHER’S HOME IN 2010. I PRAY THAT BISHOP MASON’S SPIRIT WILL BE PLEASED AS WELL AS GOD. AFTER ALL, BISHOP MASON MADE MANY SACRIFICES AND OFFERED HIS BODY A LIVING ONE FOR THIS WORK THAT THE OVER 70,000 PERSONS NOW ENJOY SO MUCH. GOD BLESS YOU BISHOP BLAKE IN YOUR LEADERSHIP ROLE, YOU HAVE CERTAINLY STEPPED INTO “BIG SHOES”.
AS OTHER HAVE STATED THIS YEAR’S CONVOCATION WAS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT. DIFFERENCE RANGED FROM THE MUSIC TO THE MESSAGES. BISHOP RANGE ON MONDAY’S COMMUNION WAS AWESOME. YOU COULD TELL THAT HE WAS NOT IN SELF BUT UNDER THE ANNOINTING OF THE HOLY GHOST. BISHOP BLAKE WAS GOOD ALSO ON SUNDAY. WELL BACK TO MONDAY’S INSTALLATION OF THE NEW BISHOPS. I WAS SOMEWHAT, NO VERY DISSAPOINTED AS TO THE CHARGE AND RESPONSE AREA. BISHOP BLAKE ASKED THE QUESTION, I BELIEVE, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTRY…THE RESPONSE FROM THE NEW BISHOPS…LORD HAVE MERCY UPON ME. DOES THAT MEAN THAT WE SHOULD ASSUME THAT THEY PROBABLY WILL COMMIT ADULTRY…AND JUST ASK THE LORD TO HAVE MERCY UPON THEM AND IT WILL BE ALRIGHT. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REAL CHARGE? WILL YOU STRIVE TO GROW SPIRITUALLY AND INFORM OTHERS IN THE BIBLE SCRIPTURES…THE RESPONSE: I WILL THE LORD BEING MY HELPER. AND SO ON SO. LET’S GO BACK TO THE OLD TIME WAY. IT IS GOOD TO MOVE FORWARD BUT DON’T FORGET WHERE GOD BROGUHT YOU FROM. I LOVE THIS CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST..I LOVE THIS OLD CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST.
I’M PRAYING DAILY FOR THIS GRAND OLD CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, ITS LEADERS AND THE SAINTS WHICH CONPRISE ALL THE CONGREGATIONS. IF THE LORD DELAYS HIS COMING I’LL SEE YOU IN THE FUTURE.
I really enjoyed the 102nd. Holy Convocation, especioally the Purity and Sunshine at Mason Temple. Missionary Thelma Cotten,. Keep up the good work. In answer to the different levels of payment, you get different meals included with your payment. I agree with the Evangelist concerning the Bishops appointments. We should keep the old way. I am looking forward to St. Louis, since I now live in Indiana.
I”m just shaking my head at “religious/church” folks comments!!! They are still sad!
May God Bless and keep us all Amen.
We love this grand old Church of God in Christ, and had a wonderful time. The Preachword was awesome. “Stay Saved.”
Be Blessed

Remmber Prayer is the answer for the world, and the church even in this dispensation somethings come by fasting, and praying. Lets have some Corporate Prayer, shut in until we are endowed with power.
