Meet Evangelist Lisa Morgan, National Registrar

Lisa Morgan, Registrar

Evangelist Lisa Morgan, Registrar

The National Church has appointed a new registrar to handle the many demanding tasks of coordinating a database network that the Saints can use to register for major events throughout the year.

What does the position of National Registrar entail?

I assist all the conventions and registrars by conducing training sessions and   collaborating on ideas to come up with best practices.  Conventions depend on registration to support them.  Hotel management, conference attendance management, vendors management and so much more is crucial to the success of these events.  For me, it is important to make sure that all records are in order – keeping up with attendance is extremely important, because it helps us control the flow of events in advance.

I am what you could call the keeper of the database.  Each convention brings in major money into a particular city. As national registrar, I (1) come up with the best practices for process working with the other convention registrars (2) developing national database used for all conventions, the General Assembly and General Secretary’s office (3) ensure that the national database will keep data integrity (Developed software for the merging of the current databases and the incoming data) and make sure overall that we have quality controls in place for the Church involving the above items.

When did you pick up this post?

Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. appointed me to registrar in April of 2009, before that I was working with the General Secretary, AIM, General Assembly and as the National Registrar Designee.

What new projects are you currently working on?

I am currently working with my team on moving the April Call, Leadership, AIM and the Holy Convocation records that are already in the national database. I’m also working on the Bishop Conference, General Secretary’s office and Financial Secretary office on bring them into the national database.

What are your hopes for this position?

I want to make conference processing as well as the general secretary processing (assessment processing) more streamlined, thereby broadening their customer base to be able to get to more people who didn’t have access before into the system.

I strive to make sure that COGIC has the best registration practices and processes organization-wide and that we are using the best technology (latest and greatest) so that the members of COGIC can have the best experience possible.

The most stressful day of any convention is day one. If we make that process seamless and streamlined – materials received, information is accurate, registration is painless – and then we are doing a great service to the Saints. We want the convention goers to come and enjoy themselves and focus on the primary reason in which they are here.

What challenges do you face in this position?

Change is always the biggest challenge.  We have to learn how to do things differently.  Introducing new ideas and new technology is always hard.

Also, getting the Church members in the habit of using their computers instead of paper is a task.  We’re trying to go green to save our environment. This project actually started because the Presiding Bishop wanted to reach out to the entire Church.  He wanted to have a central location where everyone could go and he wanted us empowered through the Bridging Digital Divide.

How long have you been a member of the Church Of God In Christ?

All my life – Fourth Generation starting with my Great Grandmother, Mother Mable Vassar-Young

What Church do you attend?

New Generation of Praise, COGIC Houston TX.  Supt. Andre’ Morgan, PhD is my pastor and husband.  TX South Central Bishop Prince E.W. Bryant, Sr., Prelate.

I am so excited about the National Registrar working to streamline the registration and the national database. If I read correctly will the saints be able to pay their credential reports online? If so that would be fantastic. I thank the Lord that I am a part of a church that is keeping up with the technological advances of the day!

  4. Alethea "Cookie" Nichols says:

Congrats to you!!!!! You are so deserving of this position! I know you will do extremely well!

  5. Evg. Lisa Morgan is a positive asset to the Church of God in Christ. Her professionalism, dedication, and loyalty mixed with her salvation produces a positive registration atmosphere. After years of waiting in long lines, lost paper work, attitudes flying I can truly say Evang. Morgan’s leadership has made registering for the various conventions 100% better. With so many different programs and the constant changes in technology, it is important to have persons in place who are not only up-to-date with those changes, but have the ability to know which technolgy is best for us.

May God continue to Bless Evang. Morgan with His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to be the best Registrar she can be for Him and the Church of God in Christ

Congratulations on this appointment – God has a work for us to do. Can someone please focus training on customer service. I have attended a few conferences as a new COGIC member, and each time those at the event have not been as customer-friendly as they could have been. For saints, this is not acceptable since we serve God, and God is love.

  10. Rolland says:

You are doing a great and excellent job. Hard worrk do pay off.
In your doing, just remember there is nothing too hard for God.
I do have a question concerning AIM. the question is, why do we have to wait until the convention is over before we find out where the next site will be. Maybe AIM can do like the Women Convetion. They let you know well ahead on where the next site will be held. Like some of us, we do have to plan ahead. Thank you and continue the good works. God is please.

  17. MnM says:

It’s about time we’re bringing in the next generation of leaders (my generation)! You’re right about the difficulty in getting church folks, including pastors, to use the computer; some of them still act like using computers is a sin – like they used to do when we first got cable TV! I went to a work seminar recently and the first thing the presenter said was, “If you think this new technology is a fad and will go away, stop burying your head in the sand and get with it because it’s here to stay.” WOW. I hope the national church will provide you with the staff support you’ll need to get the job done.

  18. Kenneth H. Law says:

Your steady progress is result of your many accomplishments.

    Love and prayers,

Your presentation at the Leadership Conference in Memphis was very well presented and I believe it help many who did not quite understand how to use the website. I am an IT person myself and I love using it. I am praying that you will be provided with the staff you need. You are doing an excellent job with your volunteers.
    Be Blessed!

  22. Missionary Lisa Cunningham-Graham says:

Congradulations Evangelist Lisa Morgan! What a wonderful appointment for a person with a beautiful name. God bless everything you put your hands to do.

  23. A Christian says:

First, I would like to congratulate you on your appointment! Promotion comes from God (Psalm 75:6-7). I trust that the registration routine will finally be a smooth process in the future as in times past it has proven to be a dreaded experience. I have been attending conventions for a few years now, and in the last couple of years I have not received confirmations by mail or email. When I call the customer service number to ask about the status of my registration, I’ve been met with unfriendly service on more than one occassion. I must say that I am extremly excited that someone saw the need for fine leadership in the area of registrar. I hope to experience a new attitude when registering for upcoming events! Also, I would like to commend whoever implemented the registration online at the Holy Convocation. I think it was a great move! May your journey in your new position be a great one!

  24. What are the dates for the April 2010 meeting???

Bishop Blake chose the right person for job and it is well received by the membership. This will be my first event since being a member in COGIC. I am already registered for the convention and would like to know when do I pay the rest of the money for the hotel?
